Making the Ankobra navigable, Prestea to the Atlantic
Our first project enables dependable, year-round navigation on the River Ankobra through targeted dredging, hydraulic structures, bridge works and navigation aids.
Scope of works
4 locks & weirs
Installed to allow year-round navigation, including through the dry season.
3 m navigation channel
Dredging the river to a dependable 3 m depth for barge traffic.
2 bridges rebuilt
Reconstructing two crossings that are currently too low for navigation.
Bank works & navigation aids
River training, quays and aids to make the corridor safe and reliable.
Where we are
EPA and Water Resources Commission permits are in place. Engineering design is being finalised, and construction is expected to begin next year.
